Description
One in three people in the U.S. makes a visit to an emergency department each year. With those statistics, it is not surprising that ensuring the ED doors are open and throughput is swift is a topic high on most health care executives list of concerns. Having accurate data is key to monitoring performance and identifying opportunities for improvement. This presentation will provide those key ED measures to monitor as well as benchmarks to which you can compare your organization's outcomes.
Abstract
Premier, Inc. currently maintains the most comprehensive emergency department comparative database nationwide. This PowerPoint presentation will provide participants with an understanding of the key emergency department processes and the measures that reflect performance. Comparative benchmarks will be provided for subprocess throughput times, nurse and physician staffing, and quality outcomes. Each year, those organizations that are identified as better performers are studied to better understand those practices that lead to a scorecard of balanced cost, quality, and risk outcomes. Those practices and strategies will be shared with the attendees.
