Personalized and Federated Data Analytics Beyond Predictive Modeling
Presented by IISE Data Analytics and Information Systems and Quality Control and Reliability Engineering Divisions
Speaker: Dr. Raed Al Kontar
Friday, May 2, 1:30 p.m. ET
The rapid advancement of edge computing and powerful AI chips has sparked strong interest in collaborative analytics, such as federated learning, which distributes model training across diverse users. To date, efforts have focused on predictive modeling. In this talk, I argue that predictive modeling, without understanding the nature of heterogeneity across users, can lead to swift and evident failures. I then present:
i) a descriptive framework for extracting interpretable and identifiable features that capture what is shared and unique across datasets, and
ii) a personalized prescriptive framework for collaborative decision-making, where dispersed users coordinate trial and error efforts to accelerate and enhance the optimal design process.

The New Industrial and Systems Engineering: Operational Analytics is our New Performance Measurement Offer Element
Presented by IISE and CISE
Speaker: Scott Sink
Thursday, May 15, 11 a.m.-noon ET
Performance Measurement was the foundation upon which Industrial Engineering emerged and evolved. How long should things take? How is a process performing? What are the right standards for work? Work Measurement. That type of measurement focus has evolved into a much broader domain for ISE’s. Process Capability, system capability, white collar productivity, Balanced Scorecards, Power BI, Visible Measurement Systems. The importance of Performance Measurement to the ISE contribution cannot be understated. And yet, interestingly, this is not taught in most of our ISE Departments. So IISE is picking up the baton and carrying it forward as a way of contributing to our members professional development
