Works Systems Division Teaching Award
The Work Systems Division seeks to recognize innovation in how work is studied by engaging students, faculty, engineers, consultants, and other industry professionals to nominate teachers or instructors who have developed and delivered academic or training (non-credit) courses and/or content that support the evolution of Work Measurement. This nomination is open to academicians and industry practitioners.
This award recognizes innovation in teaching and training that advances modern Work Measurement, including innovative methods, tools, technologies, and learning experiences that prepare students or participants to understand, model, and optimize time-based industrial systems.
Eligibility Requirements
The nominated candidate must be a member of IISE and the Work Systems Division.
- The candidate must have participated in the development (or improvement) and delivery of the course or training.
The course or training for which they are being nominated must be within the body of knowledge of Industrial Engineering (or a closely related field).
- The course can either be entirely focused on Work Systems Measurement and/or Design or contain specific content that supports the evolution and modernization of Work Systems Measurement and/or Design.
- For academicians being nominated, both undergraduate and graduate courses are acceptable. For industry practitioners, training offered within the industry (e.g., a course offered by the company as part of their training and development catalog), general open-enrollment training (e.g., a course offered by a professional at a venue where the general public can register), or consulting engagements that include training (e.g., a consultant hired for a specific project with a client where training in this area is involved) are acceptable.
- Nominations will be accepted for portions of a course or training that satisfy these requirements.
Application Guidelines
Nominations may be made by anyone (self-nominations are welcome!). However, the letters of support should be from at least one person involved in the course or training as specified below.

The letters should highlight the following:
- Creativity & Innovation: Use of modern tools, technologies, data collection methods, simulations, or new approaches to teaching WM (e.g., use of Gen AI).
- Applied Learning Impact: Learning outcomes and/or project results. Student satisfaction: Why did this course leave a memorable learning experience? What was innovative and unique about it?
- Course or training materials: One document, not to exceed three pages, containing a course or training syllabus and supporting items such as activity description, lesson plan, or excerpts from presentation materials (screenshots).
