IISE Construction engineering and management Division best Student Paper Competition
The IISE Construction Division is holding its annual Best Student Paper Competition. Papers should demonstrate or describe the use of construction techniques, such as lean methods, quality management, sustainable construction, simulation, optimization, automation, or alternative materials. The first place
winner will present their student paper at the Construction Town Hall meeting at the IISE Annual Conference & Expo, May 16-19, 2025, in Arlington, Texas..
Eligibility requirements
- Open only to students attending universities.
- All competition papers must follow the Full Paper Formatting Guidelines for the 2026 IISE Annual Conference & Expo.
- Competition papers may only have one or two student authors.
- Competition papers co-authored with professors are ineligible for the competition. Please note that your professor’s assistance is welcome.
- Competition winner must be a member of IISE and the Construction Division or must agree to become a member before accepting the award.
- Competition winner must agree to attend the IISE Annual Conference on May 16-19, 2026 to present the winning paper at the Construction Division Town Hall.
- The competition winner will receive the Best Student Paper Award for the Construction Track at the 2026 IISE Annual Conference & Expo.
Important Dates
- Competition paper submission is due by March 31, 2026.
- Submit your paper to Dr. Henry Lester (hlester@gmx.com).
- The competition winner will receive notification by April 15, 2026.
Recognition
- Recognition at the Annual Conference at the CEM Town Hall Meeting
- Recognition at the Annual Conference before the final day keynote address
- Certificate provided by IISE (hard copy with cover) for the 1st prize winner.
- Digital certificate provided by IISE for 2nd and 3rd prize winners
- Recognition in ISE magazine
